Story

High in the mountains of Inzá, Cauca, Alejandro Ariza is building a focused coffee project rooted in precision farming, regional identity, and long-term collaboration with producers in the area. His work at La Argelia Farm reflects a commitment to elevating the quality potential of Cauca through structured processing and a consistent focus on washed coffee clarity.

At La Argelia, Alejandro works with Castillo and Caturra, grown at high altitude where cooler temperatures slow cherry maturation and enhance sweetness and structure. Through a carefully controlled washed process, including extended fermentation and meticulous drying, he develops coffees defined by clean acidity, floral aromatics, and a balanced, transparent cup profile that reflects the character of the region.

His approach is centered on building a more stable and quality-driven coffee system in Inzá—working closely with producers to improve processing consistency, strengthen traceability, and create access to differentiated specialty markets. Each lot is treated as part of a broader effort to refine regional expression while improving long-term opportunities for producers.

This coffee is also part of Unblended’s Young Producer Program, which supports emerging producers in building their own coffee projects and brands. The program is designed to help producers position their coffees internationally while improving long-term profitability through product differentiation and direct collaboration. Our goal is to contribute to this program and continue expanding our relationship with producers like Alejandro—supporting both quality development and sustainable growth at origin.

FAQS

1. What does Alejandro Ariza Inza taste like?

Alejandro Ariza Inza is sweet, balanced, and beautifully structured, with notes of honey, juicy yellow plum, and cocoa. Roasted medium, it brings together comforting chocolatey depth with soft fruit and a honey-like sweetness. The result is a cup that feels familiar and inviting, with just enough brightness to keep you discovering more.

2. What makes this coffee so special?

This coffee is about quality with a bigger purpose. At La Argelia Farm, Alejandro is building a focused coffee project rooted in precision farming, careful processing, and a deep connection to his home in Inzá, Cauca.

His goal goes beyond producing a great lot of his own. Alejandro works closely with producers in the region to improve processing consistency, strengthen traceability, and create greater access to specialty coffee markets. It’s a coffee that brings together what we value deeply: a delicious cup, meaningful relationships, and the opportunity to grow together.

3. What is the Young Producer Program?

Alejandro is part of Unblended’s Young Producer Program, an initiative that helps emerging coffee producers build their own coffee projects and brands, differentiate their coffees, and connect more directly with international specialty coffee markets.

We’re excited to support that journey. For us, working with young producers like Alejandro means investing in long-term relationships and the next generation of specialty coffee—while sharing some truly beautiful coffees along the way.

4. Where does this coffee come from, and how is it processed?

This coffee comes from La Argelia Farm in Inzá, Cauca, Colombia, where Alejandro grows Caturra and Castillo at 1,700–1,800 meters above sea level. The cooler high-altitude conditions help slow cherry maturation, encouraging sweetness and structure.

The coffee is fully washed with carefully controlled fermentation and meticulous drying, an approach designed to create clarity and balance in the cup. You can taste that attention to detail in its honey sweetness, juicy yellow plum, cocoa depth, and clean finish.

5. What’s the best way to brew Alejandro Ariza Inza?

This coffee has a beautiful balance of sweetness, fruit, and cocoa, making it easy to enjoy in different ways. We recommend brewing it as pour over, drip, AeroPress, or french press.

For more clarity and to bring its honey and yellow plum notes forward, we especially love it as a pour over. For a rounder cup that leans into its cocoa sweetness and body, try the French press. However you brew it, this is a coffee worth spending a little time with—a delicious expression of Alejandro’s work and the future he’s helping build in Inzá.
